The Age of Decay - The impact of aging and declining populations on businesses and societies
Over the past century, companies could rely on expanding markets and increasing demand driven by growing populations. But population sizes in many countries have peaked and by 2025, 31 countries (several in Asia) will have declining populations.
Corporations and executives cannot continue with a “business as usual” approach in the face of these structural changes. The presentation will discuss the impact on labor markets, the role of immigration, and the evolution of management. It will point out the shortcomings of technology (including AI) in solving this crisis while noting the limitations of raising the retirement age as a strategy. It will also look at the broader impact on supply chains, infrastructure, consumer demand and investments.
