Virtual

How to improve cross-cultural understanding in your team and company.

Most of us are aware that cultural diversity is an asset to any company or team. However, how do we successfully lead across different cultures? Cultural differences can occur in how we provide feedback, on how we build trust, or the importance of when to speak or to stay quiet, and at first, they seem small. However, if not noticed and respected, they can demotivate and frustrate people and make it extremely difficult to achieve your goals. It gets especially difficult if the collaboration happens virtually since you will miss a lot of the cultural subtleties impacting the communication.

Cross-cultural experts around the world are working with the so-called "eight scale model", elaborating on the following topics: communication, evaluation, persuasion, leading people, decision-making, building trust, disagreeing and scheduling/meetings. Whether you need to motivate employees, delight clients, or simply organize a successful conference call among members of a cross-cultural team, these eight scales will help you improve your effectiveness and avoid misunderstandings. As globalization and virtual collaboration across countries and cultures transform the way we work, this knowledge sharing will be an opportunity to learn more about how to become aware of cultural differences and leverage their benefits as a result.
